Let's have some fun with Hey diddle diddle. You can learn the words in no time at all.

Hey diddle diddle, the cat and the fiddle,
The cow jumped over the moon,
The little dog laughed to see such fun,
And the dish ran away with the spoon.

Picture
OK! Listen to Hey diddle diddle.
Now let's sing it together.
Play the music again.
  • Wasn’t that fun? Can you imagine a cow jumping over the moon? Or a cat playing a fiddle? Or a dish running away with a spoon? Yes, you can! You can imagine anything at all just for fun.
  •     You can imagine you are a bus driver or a film star, too, a nurse or a doctor, can’t you? You can imagine them because you might like to be one of them.
  •      Did you know that imagination is God’s gift so that you can learn to discover things? Without imagination what are you? You are boring, miserable and unhappy. But if you can imagine things you are creative, interesting and full of fun.
  •     Imagining is discovering. I know a little girl in Macau, a small country south of China, who wanted to learn how to write but she had no paper to write on. Her parents were too poor to buy writing paper. So what did the little girl do? She found a sharp stick and wrote Chinese characters on the ground. She learned how to write on the ground.
There is an old saying, ‘Where there is a will there is a way.’

  •     All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy, is a true saying. There is a reason for everything. Can you guess what the reason for being happy is? Everybody wants to have fun and be happy, don’t they?

Fun is laughter and merriment ...like a joke, or a rhyme, a birthday party or a good time.
We celebrate a birthday with fun and games
We celebrate Christmas with gifts and carols
We celebrate good news with dancing and singing
We celebrate a new born baby with cheering.

Does God want us to be happy? Yes he does, but there is a secret that Jesus shared with his disciples. God's  Son Jesus said:
  • 'Happy are those whose hearts are pure, for they shall see God. Happy are those who strive for peace--they shall be called the sons of God. Happy are those who are persecuted because they are good, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs. When you are reviled and persecuted and lied about because you are my followers--wonderful! Be happy about it! Be very glad! for a tremendous reward awaits you up in heaven.too. (Matthew 5:8f)

  • True Happiness
Jesus, the Son of God said all this. Why did he say 'Happy are those whose hearts are pure?' Why are those whose hearts are pure happy? Because their hearts are not mixed with impure thoughts or desires.
  • Why are those who strive for peace happy? Because they have no wish to fight or hurt others. They are peaceful.
  • Why are those happy who are hated because they are good? Because they are loved by God and have no hatred in their hearts. They are like light in a dark place and expose evil things.

Things are fun when we enjoy doing them and they are not harmful to others. Fun is to have a good time, to be merry and glad. The very best reason to be glad and happy is this: God, who made you loves you, so as Jeremiah said of his chosen people Israel:
  • 'They shall come home and sing songs of joy upon the hills of Zion and shall be radiant over the goodness of the Lord--the good crops, the wheat, the wine, and the oil, and the healthy flocks and herds. Their life shall be like a watered garden, and all their sorrows shall be gone. The young girls will dance for joy, and menfolk--old and young--will take their part in all the fun; for I will turn their mourning into joy, and I will comfort them and make them rejoice, for their captivity with all its sorrows will be behind them.'
You too are  God's chosen people. Did you know that? So you have every reason to be glad and rejoice. But just as there is clean and unclean, light and dark, peace and war, so there is good fun and bad fun, laughter and tears, knowledge and ignorance. So if you want true happiness in your life, remember this and let all your fun be good fun.
