LIGHT
    Your eyes can only see what is reflected by light. A mirror, for instance, will reflect your face with light. If it is nighttime and there is no light in your house and no moon shining outside, you wont be able to see anything.  So light is very important, for without light you can’t see. But what is light? Did you know that light is formed of invisible rays that enter your eyes and give you sight. Yes that is so. There are different rays of light and these rays all do different things. They are not all for seeing with. God made light so that you can see the face of his world.

THE SEEN AND THE UNSEEN
    The face of this world is what you can see with your eyes, or though a telescope. But what you see of the world is only the world’s face. Just as you look in a mirror and see your face, it only shows you what you look like. It doesn’t show you what is in your head or your heart. That is because your mind and spirit cannot be seen. There is no light that can reveal you thoughts or your heart’s secrets. The real  you is not visible.

DISCOVERING THAT  CAN’T BE SEEN
There is a visible world and an invisible world. The invisible world holds many secrets. Some of these secrets have been discovered that can save children’s lives. Many children used to die of measles, smallpox, whooping cough and many other diseases that are caused by invisible germs, like viruses. These germs can only be seen through an electron microscope. It was not known two hundred years ago that invisible germs caused disease. But in the 19th century, Louis Pasteur, a French microbiologist, proved that germs cause disease and created vaccines to prevent them killing human beings. Other vaccines were later created to prevent other diseases like tuberculosis, smallpox, whooping cough and other vaccines to save life. Millions of little children died of these diseases. Their 19th century graves can still be seen with their names and ages on their grave stone.
Germs are invisible beings who kill human life. They cannot be seen and so no one knows where they live. Some live in water, some in the air and some in peoples bodies.

SATAN
    So the invisible world has many dangers. The worst danger of all is a being called Satan, an enemy of God. He is also called Lucifer, son of the morning. He is an angel who was cast out of heaven. He is a spirit who cannot be seen with your eyes, but he has the power to make himself visible in any form he chooses. Like in the story of the Garden of Eden, when the world was beautiful and heavenly, where Adam and Eve our first parents lived. Satan appeared to Eve as a serpent and deceived her into believing his word instead of God’s. The result was her death because God had warned her not to eat of the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil. If she did she would die. She ate it and that is how death came into the world.

THE PROPHET ISAIAH’S DESCRIPTION OF SATAN

‘How you are fallen from heaven,
O Lucifer, son of the morning!
How you are cut down to the ground,
You who weakened the nations!
For you have said in your heart:
“I will ascend into heaven,
I will exalt my throne above the stars of God;
I will also sit on the mount of the congregation
On the farthest sides of the north;
I will ascend above the heights of the clouds,
I will be like the Most High.”’ Isaiah 14:12-14

Satan, or the devil, is also called the Deceiver, and the father of lies. He is sometimes called the dragon. This is what happened to him: So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.” Revelation 12:9

You need to know about Satan and his followers, whether they be angels or men. He is behind the cause of wars and unhappiness. He is a destroyer far worse than any germ. But the good news is this, Jesus, the Son of God, our Saviour and Lord, has taken away his power to harm us. (John 12:31) If you trust in Jesus and follow his teachings you will never want to follow Satan, even if he offers you the world. Satan is the creator of opposites that lead to sorrow and death. Here are some of the opposites that Satan has created:
Hatred instead of LOVE
War instead of peace
Jealousy instead of contentment
Resentment instead of forgiveness
Bullying instead of caring for others
Worshiping oneself instead of God
Covetousness instead of contentment
Pride instead of humility
Getting instead of giving
Hating instead of loving

There are many more opposites that you will meet at school and in your neighbourhood. There are people who fall out with each other; boys and girls who dislike each other or fight each other; there are those who like to show off and look down on other boys and girls. Avoid these kind of opposites. Don’t be tempted to copy or do what they do. When they hate, they are like the devil. When they fight they copy the devil’s ways.
    Remember this, God loves you and will protect you from Satan and his angels. If Lucifer puts bad thoughts in your head ignore them. If other boys and girls put bad thoughts in you head refuse to obey them. You are God’s child.
