PHILOSOPHER FROG ON THE BODY AND THE MIND

    ‘Hello, Frog!’
‘Hello Toady, what have you been learning today?’
‘I have been learning about the body and the mind, Frog.’
    ‘The body and the mind?’
‘Yes, Frog. ‘I am in grade 5 now at Toad school, and I am learning all about the body and the mind.’
‘What have you learned today, Toady?’
‘That the mind comes from the body, Frog.’
    ‘Do you have dreams Toady?’
‘Yes, I dream a lot, Frog.’
‘Are you awake or asleep when you dream?
    ‘I am asleep, Frog.’
‘Well Toady, tell me, is the body asleep when you dream?’
‘Why do you ask me, Frog? I dream only when I am asleep.’
‘If your body is asleep Toady, can it see or hear or move or know anything?’
‘No, it is asleep so how can the body see or hear or move, Frog.’
‘If that is so Toady, where do dreams come from? When you dream do you see or hear or move?’
‘Now I am confused, Frog. I do see and hear and move when I dream but only in my dream. My body is fast asleep. It doesn’t see or hear or move. Where do dreams come from, Frog?’
‘They come from the mind, Toady.’
‘But my teacher said the mind comes from the body. How can it dream if it is asleep and doesn’t see or hear or move?’
‘It doesn’t dream, Toady. Only the mind dreams because it never goes to sleep.
    ‘What! Is that right, Frog?’
‘Yes, the mind never sleeps because the mind does not need sleep like the body does. The mind is immortal and never sleeps or dies, Frog.’
‘Immortal! Then the mind does not come from the body, Frog.'
‘That is right, Toady, it doesn't. God created souls that never die. Only bodies die and only bodies go to sleep. Don’t they teach you that God made creatures like himself?’
‘No Frog, they only teach that bodies are made of atoms.’
    ‘What are atoms, Toady?’
‘They are invisible specks of matter and waves, Frog.’
‘Can they see or hear or move, Toady?’
    ‘I don’t know, Frog.’
    ‘Are atoms intelligent, Toady?’
    ‘I don’t know, Frog.’
‘Find out Toady because the body is made by an intelligent Being. Bodies are designed to see and hear and move and they can do many more things, and the mind is intelligent and can think and know and make things.’
‘I do see what you mean, Frog. If we don’t know what an atom is how can we know what it does?’
    ‘Exactly, Toad.’
